Synopsis[]

The Brothers are back and better than ever! Bowser has once again taken over the Mushroom Kingdom, and it's up to Mario (and Luigi!) to put an end to his sinister reign. Battle Bowser's vile Henchmen through 32 different levels -- all taken directly from the 1985 classic! Then move on to collect special Red Coins and Yoshi Eggs in the Challenge Mode. Or face off against a friend and race through 8 competition courses in the all-new VS Mode! This time there's a lot more to do than just save a princess, so get ready for a brick-smashin', pipe-warpin', turtle-stompin' good time!

Regional differences[]

Of the following facts, these show what is different in the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. Deluxe.

If any new pictures appear on the album, you will see the word "NEW" above the album icon.
In Challenge mode, some of the worlds have lower scores to beat.
In the 1-Player VS mode (You VS Boo), Boo's name is now just "Ghost".
If you press Select after Fiery Mario in You VS Boo, you can get Luigi.
On the Rankings screen, if you press Start, you can clear all scores that you have made.
On the Pause screen, if you select Save, you will see "Save OK!".
After the two-part Game Over screen, you can choose from three modes -- Continue, Save and End. If you select Save, the words "RANK IN!" will appear to the right.
Your score does not reset to 0 if you end a file, and you can continue as Super or Fiery Mario/Luigi.
